Glasgow to welcome A-listers for thriller Borderland as Batgirl filming wraps up

Glasgow is gearing up for more Hollywood action with the arrival of film crews to shoot thriller Borderland, just as production wraps in the city on Batgirl.

The superhero movie - starring Leslie Grace and Brendan Fraser - has been shooting in Glasgow since late November, and Glasgow Live understands that filming will end on Thursday of next week (March 31).

Production is set to commence the following week on Borderland, a film set in the 1970s that will star Star Wars actor Felicity Jones, alongside the likes of Jack Reynor (Midsommar) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim).

Based on the true crime book 'The Road to Balcombe Street' by Dr Steven S Moyse about an IRA unit placed under deep cover in London in 1975, Borderland will be directed by Tom and Charlie Guard, who rose to fame with 2009 horror flick The Uninvited.

About the film, the duo said: "Borderland is a vengeance fuelled chase movie, fusing some pulse ticking action with a powerful message for our times."

Borderland is the latest in a string of major movies to be filmed in Glasgow, following on from the likes of Cold War era flick Tetris, superhero movies The Flash and The Batman, historical drama Outlaw King and action movie Hobbs & Shaw.
