Residents in the south side of Glasgow are being urged to have their say on a new development under the M74 canopy before the survey closes.
The Devon Street Urban Park — a concept proposed by charity Glasgow Urban Sports (GUS)— aims to transform an unused area of land under the canopy of the motorway, including the adjacent open green space on Devon Street, and create a free-to-use, community urban park and active leisure space.
GUS has organised a series of consultation events to provide an opportunity for local residents to meet the project team, discuss the urban park proposals and provide feedback.

Planned events will be hosted at at Pollokshields Bowling Club on Thursday, May 25 from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday May 27 from 2pm to 4pm as well as Larkfield Centre in Govanhill on Thursday June 1 from 4pm to 7pm and Saturday June 3 from 2pm to 4pm.
Over 800 local residents have already completed the survey.
Design proposals for the park aim to be inclusive for a wide range of age groups and respond to the growing demand for urban sports - skateboarding, quad/roller skating, BMX, and cycling.
The proposed design will also incorporate space for public art, outdoor gym, community events, and green active leisure spaces – contributing to the health and well-being of people living in the surrounding neighbourhoods.
Shona Marshall from GUS said: “The response to the survey so far has been really great and we’d like to thank those who have shared their views. It shows us that there’s a real interest in creating a new local urban park, that’s really encouraging since this could transform the area and really make a difference to people living in this part of the city.”
She added: “All ages are welcome to come along – we want to work together with members of the local communities to make this happen. If we are successful in securing funding, we will continue our consultation process to create something really unique that reflects communities who live there.”
Printed versions of the short survey will be available at the drop-in events or can be posted out by contacting the charity on 07551439622. The online survey is available at glasgowurbansports.org
