A Glasgow soup kitchen has issued a fresh plea for donations to provide hot meals to the city’s most vulnerable residents.
The Homeless Project Scotland (HPS), which is based on Argyle Street under Central Bridge every night from 8pm onwards, served more than 300 meals on Saturday night to people of all ages.
Chairman Colin McInnes says that since the food truck launched, the demand for a hot meal is increasing and donations in any shape or form to the charity are welcome.

Mr McInnes said: “We are asking the public to donate what they can to HPS to help cope with the demand of our service.
“The food truck has now been launched and has been feeding a lot of people. Last night we fed around 320 people under Central Bridge with the food truck.
“Children and elderly people were among those in attendance last night as the demand for service is high and is still increasing.
“The food truck, which has essentially given us a kitchen on wheels, is going well and we have been able to add different meals to the menu including hotdogs and burgers which we couldn’t do before.”
With more people using the service the HPS says it is experiencing some “backlash” from members of the public.
Mr McInnes added: “We are getting a bit of backlash from members of the public while people queue up and the soup kitchen takes over the pavement.
“On Saturday a man came and asked if he could use the toilet but we had to apologise and say no we didn’t have a public toilet.
“He then urinated all over the front of the van. He was issued a ticket by the police but it was an upsetting incident for us to be targeted like this.
“We want to ask for the public’s continued support.”
