Glasgow set for Scotland's biggest Poundland as 'super-sized' store to open next month

A new Glasgow Poundland 'super-sized' store will open its doors next month much to the delight of shoppers.

The budget store is set to open in the Gorbals Crown Street Retail Park, with Poundland announcing their new premises will be open on March 11 to become the retailer's largest store in Scotland. Spanning 18,380 ft - over three times the size (6,000sq ft) of an average Poundland - the super-size store will create 45 jobs.

Tourists signs, according to Gov.uk, are designed to help visitors find attractions and facilities. The website helpfully defines an attraction ‘as place for people to visit for pleasure or interest’.

The new store will be bright and airy, with a modern and contemporary feel.

Situated next to JD Gyms the store is the latest addition to the retail park already home to major names including Burger King, Costa, Aldi, Greggs, Food Warehouse and B&M.

The Crown Street Glasgow store will feature a wide ranges of categories such as food and drink, home and pet, entertainment and stationery s well as new greetings card ranges to the most extensive range of toys carried in any Poundland.

Poundland director of retail, Darren Kay, said: “We’re looking forward to opening the largest Poundland in Scotland. In fact, some may even say it’s a ‘beezer’ of a store!

“The size of the store means there’s more of our amazing value under one roof across more categories than ever before.

“The first four destination stores of this scale we’ve opened in England have wowed customers and we’re thrilled it’s now time to bring our best offer to Glasgow.

"We can’t wait to open the doors on the 11 March.”
