Glasgow schoolboy battered and robbed in terrifying Buchanan Street bus station attack

A thug brutally attacked a 14-year-old boy and robbed him of his mobile.

Youcef Boutoubane pounced on the boy at Glasgow city centre's Buchanan Bus Station.

The 19-year-old followed the victim before punching and dragging him to the ground.

He later rummaged through the teenager's bag and also made off with his Armani wallet.

Boutoubane pled guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to assault and robbery of the boy on July 4 last year.

The court heard the boy and his friend were walking to meet a parent at the station.

A group of two men and two women - including Boutoubane - were arguing as the boys approached.

Boutoubane said to the victim: "Wit?" before the boy replied the same back.

The victim was told not to "get wide" before the two boys left the station.

Boutoubane followed the victim and chasing him around the bus station - calling him a "specky b******."

Prosecutor Claire Wallace said: "Boutoubane caught up with him and struck the boy with his fist.

"Thereafter dragged him to the ground where he continued to assault him."

Boutoubane demanded what was inside the boy's bag before stealing his iPhone and wallet.

He said: "Glasgow boys don't forget" before fleeing the scene.

Boutoubane was later traced after a warrant was granted.

His layer Graeme Cunningham told the court: "Quite disgraceful behaviour and has been in custody because of it.

"I'm not making a motion for bail as he should be remanded in custody."

Sentence was deferred until next month pending background reports by sheriff Johanna Johnston QC who continued Boutoubane's remand in custody meantime.
