A salon in Partick is offering free back to school haircuts for Glasgow families struggling with the rising cost of living.
Autumn & Easton opened in the area five weeks ago and has enjoyed a great deal of success - according to salon co-owner Kirsty Teale.
Along with friend Samantha Easton, the pair wanted to show their gratitude to customers and do their part to help parents feeling the pressure.

Kirsty told Glasgow Live: “Literally just the other day I was trying to think of something we could do not just to show how grateful we are for the way locals have welcomed us, but also help the families dealing with the rising cost of living.
“I’m very grateful, and we wanted to take this opportunity to show it. We just thought it would be nice for kids to return back to school feeling their best, without it taking a toll on parents.”
Kirsty and Samantha named their salon based on their families, with Kirsty’s daughter being Autumn and Samantha’s married name being Easton.
This focus on families is what also led the co-owners down the path of free back to school haircuts, with Kirsty adding: “We’re a real family salon, and we want to do our bit to help out other families because we know that the struggles are just getting worse.”
Autumn & Easton wanted to make it clear that any child from across Glasgow was welcome, with the appointment completely private. Kirsty continued: “Any kids are welcome, I think especially for high school kids it can be daunting for families who can’t afford it and want their kids to go back looking nice.
“It’s completely confidential, no one will know what you’re booked in for and you can just message us on Instagram or on our website.”
Kirsty told us the idea came together after some of the clients spoke to her about the ongoing struggles families were seeing. She said: “I’ve got a few clients that are teachers and social workers and they’ve been telling me about kids coming back from summer holidays from families that are having a tough time keeping up.
“Coming back into the classroom without feeling their best, which is something small that we can help with.”
Despite their location on Dowanhill Street in Partick, Kirsty and Samantha are keen to help out any wee ones in the Glasgow area. They told us: “We want to get it as far across as we can and benefit as many folks as possible.
“Young kids, folks with more children - all of them. We’re right next to the transport links in Partick which are really easy to get to.”
