There is nothing more likely to ruin a good mood than road works.
It feels like they're everywhere at once, especially when you're rushing to get somewhere.
Here in Glasgow, we're accustomed to delays, temporary traffic lights, and resurfacing works closing lanes but that doesn't mean they get any less annoying.
The only way we mere humans can be expected to deal with the works is to simply plan ahead. So, we've created a list of the ongoing road works right now, what's coming up and when they *should* be finished.

M8 Woodside Viaduct
As reported on Glasgow Live, the crippling tailbacks at M8 Woodside Viaduct - causing months of misery for motorists at the Kingston Bridge and Charing Cross - could last four years. And that's two years longer than originally anticipated...
The area a mile north of the Kingston Bridge has been reduced from four lanes to two since March of 2021.
Speed restrictions are also in place for motorists, while slip road entry points and exit points of the M8 also closed to traffic.
Amey, who are undertaking the works on behalf of Transport Scotland, said in October last year the works are expected to be complete in autumn 2023, which will then allow for removal of the current M8 lane restrictions.
But Councillor Ken Andrew recently told protest group Replace The M8 that the viaduct 'worse shape than previously thought', with additional repairs meaning that the existing traffic management could be in place until as late as 2025.
Full story here.
Elsewhere on the M8...
The M8 has been proving a bit of a nightmare for drivers, especially those commuting at night. Amey has been undertaking essential maintenance on the M8 at Blochairn Road for a number of days between 8pm and 6am meaning overnight closures.
The work was wrapped up on Tuesday but we have a feeling it won't be the last overnight closure on the M8 we see for a while...
A Glasgow Live reader said: "The M8 where nothing is actually being done but lanes have been closed for what seems like a year now! Was more than 6 months ago. Never see anyone doing any work at all and traffic is a nightmare no matter the time."
Gorbals Street
Carriageway resurfacing works are ongoing on Gorbals Street between Cleland Street and Cumberland Street from Tuesday 19 to Saturday 23 April.
Gorbals Street between Ballater Street and Cumberland Street (southbound only) will be closed with access only permitted for vehicles associated with the works.
Corkerhill Road
One to prepare for – a short section of Corkerhill Road, south of its junction with Mosspark Drive, will be closed to through traffic from Tuesday April 19 for six weeks to enable pipe installation work to be carried out. Access to residents will be provided.
A diversion route via Crookston Road will be in operation and signposted.
Our readers were quick to point out that area is particularly bad for road works, including Cardonald and Pollok.
A Glasgow Live reader described Corkerhill and Pollok as 'mayhem'. Marie added: "Corkerhill and pollok it's mayhem and will be worse on Tuesday for 6 weeks Corkerhill Road closed again need to fly to my work."
Another reader added: "Corkerhill road / Mosspark Drive, closed for new water main since August last year causing traffic chaos and congestion for cars and busses, still at least 2 months to go."
Townhead
The section between Townhead and Charing Cross was flagged as a particular problem for drivers.
Our reader Scott said: "The section between Townhead and Charing Cross on the M8 - the forgotten roadworks. Originally scheduled to take a few weeks in 2020, they’re still ongoing with no end date in sight. And very little or no work being done on them. They’ve basically been forgotten."
Another added: "Charing Cross. Longest road works known to man."
Hillington Road South
Hillington Road South will be closed to traffic between Sandwood Road and Talla Road heading southbound for essential carriageway repair works on Tuesday April 19, between 8am and 6pm.
Hawthorn Street
Telecoms work has been causing issues for drivers travelling through Hawthorn Street. One reader said: "I got stuck in Hawthorn Street yest for 25 mins due to road works. Think they're just digging roads up them filling back up again."
Rutherglen Main Street
Rutherglen Main Street was flagged to us as one of the worst streets for potholes. We rounded up some of the worst craters in and around the city according to readers.
