The modernising of Glasgow's subway is well underway and it has taken another step forward today.
Glasgow Subway Travel has issued a further update on its progress with a new signalling and communications system being installed behind the scenes. The crucial transport network has already undergone a major revamp with £16million spent on tunnel improvements and 15 stations having undergone a huge refurbishment.
There tweet from Glasgow Subway Travel read: "Please excuse our appearance as we install new signalling and comms equipment behind the scenes as part of Subway modernisation."

As well as the new systems being introduced, 17 new trains will take to the tracks and new platform doors have also been added.
The massive works are expected to cost around £200million.
Once the new look subway system is up and running the trains will transition from partially automatic trains to Unattended Train Operations.
