Glasgow's Silverburn to stop dog friendly shopping trial amid 'dog poo' spotted in food court

Silverburn shopping centre have announced that their dog-friendly trial will be coming to an end following feedback from customers and stores.

The centre opened its doors to dogs back in October due to demand from shoppers and retailers - but it recently came under fire, as dog owners were accused of letting their pets defecate inside the shopping complex.

During the trial period, owners were allowed to bring their dogs into the centre and food court with a number of retailers including Waterstones and H&M also allowing them into stores.

Water bowls and waste bag stations were also placed around the centre. Despite this, there's been reports of dog mess being left behind by some owners.

Now, Silverburn has decided that the trial won't be continued.

Making the announcement on social media, they said: "Following a full review of customer and store feedback, we can confirm that our dog friendly trial won’t be continued.

"We pride ourselves on being a destination that’s inclusive for all and appreciate that this news will be disappointing for those who have enjoyed bringing their dogs to Silverburn. However, the comfort of our human guests and our retailers must be the priority.

"We therefore ask that dog owners leave their pet at home when next visiting Silverburn.

"Please bear with us as we transition from the trial over the next few weeks. Thank you for your understanding."

Assistance dogs will still be permitted to enter the centre.
