Kids across Glasgow are looking forward to October week, while parents are searching for something to keep them entertained.

We’ve put together some free options for you and your wee ones to enjoy together over the school break, which is due to start at on Friday, October 14.
Riverside Museum of Transport
Kids can clamber over vintage trams, buses, cars and more - and take a stroll into the past with recreated streets and shops dating from the 1890s to the 1980s. Accompanied by a stroll along the riverside, a trip to the Riverside Museum of Transport makes for the perfect day out.
Open Monday to Thursday 10am until 5pm, the museum is always free to enter with no need to book.
The People’s Palace
The People’s Palace tells the story of Glasgow, from the 18th century right up to modern day. Colourful exhibits detail how people lived over time, with items such as historic dairy stones or ‘steamies’ from back in the day.
The Winter Gardens house some exotic and tropical plants, perfect for letting your wild ones explore.
Open 10am until 5pm throughout the week, you can head along to The People’s Palace is free for all.
Glasgow Gallery of Modern Art
Unleash your weans' arty side with a trip to the Gallery of Modern Art, right in the centre of town. There are regular free activities for kids aged three to 11 during school breaks, as well as the Saturday Art Club.
In the library, story-time is held regularly - aside from the endless artworks for children and grown ups to admire. The gallery is also open 10am until 5pm during the week.
Free Krav Maga Self Defence Class
The Irok Skull Gym at the Pentagon Centre is holding free Krav Maga classes, for wee ones between the ages of 5 and 7.
With no obligation to join, kids can try out the self-defence classes - and you can book in your spot and find out the dates here.
Glasgow Botanic Gardens
Open from 7am every day, all year, the Botanic Gardens are free for the public. Located in the west end, the gardens house the glasshouses which are open from 10am until 4.15pm in the winter.
A heritage trail through the gardens gives the opportunity to explore 30 points of interest, while a Minibeats, Birds and Trees of the Botanics trail is on offer for little ones. Brochures for the trails can be found in the Kibble Palace.

Hunterian Museum
The oldest museum in Scotland, the Hunterian Museum spans across various buildings on the main campus of the University of Glasgow in the west end.
Closed on Mondays, the galleries and museums are open from 10am until 5pm from Tuesday to Sunday.
With plenty to explore, most of the buildings are free to enter though the Mackintosh House is priced at £8 for adults and £6 for young ones - find out more here.
Glasgow Police Museum
Open Monday to Saturday from 10am until 4.30pm, the Glasgow Police Museum is the first museum of Britain’s police force - covering years from 1800 to 1975.
The exhibits in the Glasgow Police Historical Exhibition provide a historical insight into the people, events and other factors which contributed to the founding, development and progress of Britain's first Police force.
The International Police Exhibition in the museum illustrates the spread of policing throughout the world. More than 2,000 items of insignia, headgear and uniforms from all corners of the globe are on display - get more information here.
