Glasgow Pizza Punks selected as finalist at national awards as chefs set to battle in live cook off

It seems that Pizza is a popular choice of food to go in Glasgow with more eateries serving up the cheesy delight.

Just recently the Glasgow Fort welcomed restaurant Leopardo Pizza, the same team behind the popular Bread Meats Bread burger chain, who are now offering fresh and unique flavour combinations and funky cocktails including Strawberry Cornetto and Ferrero Rocher.

Not only did the city welcome a new eatery but yet a new pizzeria has now moved into the former location of Baffo, located on Argyle Street, with Farina taking its place with them opening theirs doors last month.

But now another pizza joint, who have been in the city for a while now, are being praised having been named as a finalist in the National Pizza Awards 2022.

The chain is located in the city centre on St Vincent Street and also have several locations throughout England including Newcastle, Belfast, Leeds, Leicester, Durham and teased as coming soon, Liverpool.

Now 16 of the UK's best pizza chefs from across the hospitality sector are set to battle it out during a live cook-off taking place next month.

The highly-anticipated awards, which is into its sixth year, will see chefs from restaurants, street food stalls and pop-ups go against each other to see which brand’s signature pizza is named the best in the UK.

The live final will take place on November 9 at Islington Metalworks in London. On top of the signature round, competitors will participate in a technical challenge, where they will use a specific selection of sponsor ingredients to make a dish with the potential to win them the National Pizza Chef of the Year title.

This year’s event also includes a meat-free round, sponsored by former champion Purezza. Winners will be decided by a carefully selected panel of expert industry judges.

Genna Ash-Brown, editor of Dine Out magazine, which organises the annual event said: "The calibre of entries for the National Pizza Awards 2022 was so high that it made our job of selecting finalists more than a little tricky.

“But this year’s line-up genuinely is our best yet. The finalists are preparing for battle as we get ready to fire up the ovens and count down the days until we showcase the very best pizza creations the industry has to offer. This is an event you won’t want to miss!”
