After the last few years, we could all definitely use a laugh, and according to a recent study, we should all be heading to Glasgow.
Named the funniest place in Scotland, Scotland's biggest city has been picked out as one of the best places for comedy in the UK.
Aiming to find the UK’s funniest places, the research by Blackpool Grand Theatre measured each city by the number of comedians and comedy venues by population.
And Glasgow came out on top for Scotland, finishing up 8th overall.
The city is well known for its comedians, such as Billy Connolly, Frankie Boyle and Kevin Bridges, while The Stand Comedy Club is considered to be one of the best in the UK.
Edinburgh (11th) and Dundee (18th) were the only other Scottish cities to make the list, which saw Lincoln crowned the funniest city in the UK.
The study analysed eighty UK towns and cities looking at the number of comedy venues and the number of notable comedians born in or around each place. This data was then weighted by population (per 100,000 residents) and each place ranked.
Speaking about the research, head of marketing at Blackpool Grand Theatre Andrew Howard, said: “Comedy shows are such a great way to bring friends and family together and build memories through laughter.
"I’m sure we will see more shows coming on sale over the months ahead as more famous faces take to the stage with new material – I think after the last year we’ve all had, we need to look back lightly on some of the softer moments, and more importantly; ahead to a busier social life once more.
"I’m also really pleased to see Blackpool has made the top 10! – as comedy is one of our most popular categories all year round.”
