A new study has shown Glaswegians are one of the least knowledgeable when it comes to cooking Christmas dinner.
We’ve all felt the stress of cooking for the family on Christmas Day, though according to new figures Glasgow is using Google for help more than many other UK cities. Beaten out only by Bristol, the study from grocery delivery service Getir has listed the 15 cities in the country looking to Google most often during the festive season.
At the top of the list sits Bristol, with a search volume of 235 per 1000 of the population. In the English town, they were often googling for assistance with cooking a turkey or gammon.

In second place was Glasgow, with a search volume 163 per 1000 of the population. Here, we had 26,750 people using Google to find out how to cook a turkey.
Additionally, 14,370 Glaswegians headed online for help in cooking Brussels sprouts. Coming in third place were our neighbours in the east, with Edinburgh also seeking help with turkey and Brussels.
To carry out the study, Getir looked into the most populated cities in the UK and the average amount of Google search volumes there were for relevant Christmas dinner-themed ‘how to cook’ and ‘recipes’ search terms in December 2021.
The study looked into the total search volumes in comparison to the overall population of each city to determine which cities struggled in cooking last Christmas.
