Glasgow mum blasts TRNSMT stewards after daughter knocked back and accused of having 'fake' passport

A mum-of-four is raging after her teenage daughter was refused entry to see her favourite band, The 1975, perform at TRNSMT.

Erin Thomson had been gifted the ticket for her 16th birthday - on June 5 - and couldn't wait to watch the pop-rock band perform in Glasgow Green over the weekend. But her mum claims the teenager's dreams were shattered when she was refused entry after being accused of having a 'fake ID'.

Organisers earlier said that anyone under the age of 16 was not permitted into the festival and stewards would be working to a Challenge 25 policy.

The teenager took her passport with her, which proved she was of age, and was even allowed entry on Friday and Saturday.

Mum-of-four, Emma, who lives in Cumbernauld, has hit out at the stewards after her daughter was left in floods of tears when she was turned away from Scotland's largest music festival on the final day.

She claims: "They scanned her ticket and she went to the next point and checked the ID again before telling her it isn’t her and is a fake ID. She asked ‘what do you mean? That is not a fake document’.

"They removed it from her and said it was going to be given to the police. She phoned me in hysterics and I tried to speak to them.

"I said she is legitimately 16 and I sent through a birth certificate, divorce papers, bank statements, address, proof of NI - I sent it all.

"The supervisor came out and said they scanned it and it was a fake passport. That can’t have happened because it’s not a fake.

"She got her ID back but they said she still couldn’t go in because they weren’t able to verify her government name."

Emma says she has contacted TRNSMT and lodged a complaint.

She added: "It was an absolute farce. All she has done is sob, she was in absolute tears - it was her one chance to see The 1975.

"She is a competitive dancer and doesn't have a break, this was her one opportunity.

"I was in Cumbernauld with three other kids, I couldn’t get there. I am furious about what happened

"I am shocked and sickened by it and how it impacts the wee ones’ life. She is like what is the point of going to anything, she can’t look forward to anything because they are getting treated like they are scumbags.

"I am disgusted by the way they were treated."

When contacted by Glasgow Live, a spokesperson for TRNSMT said: "Our customer service is working its way through the large number of emails we receive throughout the festival weekend and aims to respond as quickly as possible."
