Glasgow 'most likely' to host Eurovision 2023 with over half of the vote

It has been confirmed today that UK will be the nation to host next year's Eurovision Song Contest - and Glasgow is fighting to become host city.

Earlier today, Glasgow Live reported that show organisers have confirmed that the next event will not be held in the winning country as usual, due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, following Russia's invasion.

And due to the fact that the UK came a close second to Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union have opened discussions with the BBC.

There has been no confirmation as to what city will host Eurovision, but Glasgow have expressed an interest in being the host city. Leeds, Liverpool, Newcastle, Birmingham, Aberdeen, London, Brighton, Belfast and Cardiff could also be in the running.

According to new odds circulated by Ace Odds, Glasgow has taken over half of the vote on the favourite to host Eurovision - with a whopping 54.5 per cent chance.

The OVO Hydro Arena could be the perfect choice, with the ability to hold over 14,000 people.

Just behind Glasgow is Manchester with a 40 per cent chance of hosting the games, and London is in third with 16.7 per cent.

To be in with a chance of hosting Eurovision 2023, each city needs to formally apply to both the BBC and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Potential cities have to explain how they can fit a certain criteria including transfer links, adequate accommodation and a big enough venue. Each city will need to market themselves as being the best option - showcasing what they could bring to the event.

Eurovision 2023 will definitely be held in the UK, but will Glasgow outbid the other cities to become the host city? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
