THE leader of Glasgow Labour is reportedly facing a coup from a rival councillor after just a year in post.
Former lord provost Philip Braat, a councillor for Anderston, will challenge incumbent group leader George Redmond for the top job, the Daily Record reports.
It comes just under a year after Redmond defenestrated Malcolm Cunning for the leadership.
The Record reports there were internal divisions over a stunt orchestrated by Redmond to subvert convention and not table an alternative budget earlier in the year.
Labour gained five seats at the previous Glasgow council elections in 2022 – putting them just one seat behind the SNP, who retained control over the city.
The party hope to take back Glasgow in the next local authority elections in 2027.
Redmond and Braat were approached for comment.
