Glasgow City Council has released a schedule of events for the city as the UK prepares to mark the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort.
With May 6 marking The Coronation, the Council has put together a schedule with a number of official events across Glasgow, with organisations and communities encouraged to come together over this weekend and engage in the various initiatives.
They added on the website that It is hoped that this "momentous occasion can create a lasting legacy", with Coronation Big Lunches and The Big Help Out being created to help "bring communities together over the special Bank Holiday Coronation weekend".

The Coronation Big Lunch – Residents and visitors of Glasgow are encouraged to share lunch together in their, parks, gardens and community spaces, with the nationwide act described as an "opportunity to celebrate communities, their connections and to establish new friendships".

The Big Help Out – on Monday, May 8, this extra bank holiday for the Coronation is encouraging people to spend a day of donating time and skills to help charities, causes and the vulnerable.

The Book of Congratulations – The City of Glasgow invites you to leave a message in a Book of Congratulations, which will be open to the public from Tuesday, May 2 until Friday, May 5 of May from 9 am until 5 pm.
Kings Coronation Streetplay – Running from May 6 until May 8, communities and residents can apply for a street closure to celebrate this historic event.

Sandyford Church Coronation Event – on Thursday, May 4 from 4 pm until 6 pm all are welcome to mark the occasion with coronation cakes, tea and coffee served at the Kelvinhaugh Street Church in Finnieston.
Glasgow's Coronation Concert – On Friday, May 5, at 7 pm at the Glasgow City Chambers, The Lord Lieutenant, Jacqueline McLaren is delighted to host Glasgow's Coronation Concert in the spectacular surroundings of Glasgow City Chambers Banqueting Hall.
Glasgow's residents are invited to enjoy an evening of spectacular music, song and Coronation Anthems.
The website reads: "The concert, led by Scotland's Voice of Classical music, Jamie MacDougall, along with the wonderful RSNO Chorus, Glasgow Chamber Orchestra and musicians and singers from Royal Conservatoire of Scotland promises to be a wonderful celebration to mark Glasgow's official Coronation events."

Official Coronation Parade – The Lord Lieutenant for Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren will officially mark HM The King's Coronation on Sunday 7th May. All residents and visitors to the city are welcome to come together to celebrate this historic occasion.
9.45 am - Official Coronation Parade, George Square Procession to Glasgow Cathedral
11.00 am - Service of Thanksgiving, Glasgow Cathedral
