An initiative to create “interactive murals” with QR codes in Cardonald will benefit from a share of £1 million in a bid to make a “significant difference” to the ward.
The neighbourhood infrastructure fund has granted £1 million to each of the Glasgow wards, allowing councillors to improve their communities by upgrading roads, footways, lighting, trees, street furniture, CCTV or park equipment.
Some cash will be used to create at least five murals with the project expected to begin in May.

The first subject will be Winifred Joyce 'Winnie' Drinkwater, who lived in Cardonald, and who was just 17 when she qualified at the Scottish Flying School in Renfrew.
Born in 1913, the "exceptional Scot" would go on to be known as one of the most pioneering women of her generation, becoming the first female commercial pilot in 1932, at the age of 19.
Her story was brought to wider attention a few years ago when it featured in an episode of STV’s The People's History Show.
Speaking about the project, Cardonald councillor Alex Wilson, said: “Every council ward has been given £1 million to spend on their ward which can be used in any manner of projects or local infrastructure, whether that be roads or upgrading facilities.
“We are going to use some of this funding for our mural project which should be on the go by the middle of May.
“We are doing an initial phase where there are going to be three murals completed in the ward, then that’s going to be taken forward to another phase where we identify other areas for murals to go.
“We want to make a significant difference in terms of what people will see around the ward, not just roads.”
During a recent Cardonald area partnership meeting £6500 was awarded to SWAMP (South West Arts and Media Project) to design the QR codes that bring the murals to life.
Councillor Wilson went on: “SWAMP based in Pollok and are going to head the project in terms of delivering the QR codes which will show you actors playing different roles informing people of the history of the wall mural.
“They will help bring the Winnie Drinkwater mural to life.”
