Glasgow homes have been evacuated after Storm Malik winds targeted an 'unsafe' historic building.
Emergency crews swarmed the Trinity College building in Lynedoch Street, the West End of the city, yesterday over structural fears.
Officers from Police Scotland were on the scene near Park Circus and put in an 'exclusion zone' in place while shutting down roads.
Glasgow City Council say those affected are being told to seek shelter at the rest centre at Kelvin Hall, reports Glasgow Live.
They also reported eyewitnesses claiming they had to leave their properties 'for at least two days', with the emergency services having 'barricaded the area'.
The former Trinity College, designed by Charles Wilson and built as the Free Church College in 1857, houses several residences and currently has scaffolding around its West Tower to facilitate emergency repair work from a previous stone collapse.
A Police Scotland spokesperson advised: "Around 12.55pm on Saturday, 29 January 2022, police assistance was sought from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service to assist with traffic management at Lynedoch Street, Glasgow (near Park Circus).
"The Fire Service is currently dealing with an unsafe structure and officers are in attendance due to several roads being closed.
"A number of properties are also being evacuated."
Glasgow City Council issued a statement which reads: "An exclusion zone is being erected around Trinity building at Lynedoch St after structural deterioration found, worsened by high winds - residents being directed to rest centre at the Kelvin Hall, with Glasgow City HSCP in attendance.
Commenting on the incident, Labour MSP Paul Sweeney took to Twitter to say: "Concerning news about further storm damage to the Old Trinity College building at Park Circus, built c.1861.
"Solidarity with residents who are being given temporary shelter at Kelvin Hall."
An earlier weather warning brought by Storm Malik is no longer in force with winds having died down this afternoon. However, a further Met Office warning for wind is due to begin at 3pm tomorrow with Storm Corrie set to take hold of the UK.
