Glasgow emergency services race to 'incident' near Springburn train station as line closed

The emergency services are currently dealing with an incident between between Springburn and Robroyston train stations.

The incident has forced the closure of the line serving both stations with services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk Grahamston and Cumbernauld diverted as a result.

ScotRail alerted rail users about the ongoing incident around 2:45pm this afternoon.

The rail operator tweeted: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Springburn and Robroyston the line is closed.

"Our services between Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh via Falkirk Grahamston and Cumbernauld will be diverted."

Network Rail Scotland have confirmed that disruption is expected until 4:30pm.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police were called to the Broomfield Road area of Glasgow, around 2pm on Monday, 28 March, following concern for a woman.

"Officers remain at the scene and the road is currently closed."

UPDATE: The line between Glasgow Queen Street and Springburn has reopened.
