A GLASGOW eatery is set to serve deep-fried pizza - but not as you know it.
The traditional Italian fried pizza, which "couldn't be further" from the Scottish chippy version, will be served at Big Feed Kitchen at Princes Square courtesy of Baked Pizza Al Taglio.
Darryl of Baked said: "The fried pizza is a staple of Italian cuisine both in terms of street food and in the home.
"We have wanted to introduce this product for a long time. We associate it with summer and the beach so it seems like a good time coming into the summer months.
"Only the dough is fried, then it is topped with freshly made pizza sauce, Parmesan and fresh mozzarella.
"The fried dough brings out the acidity of the tomato and the creamy mozzarella rounds it all of into the perfect snack.
"This is a very authentic menu item. You’ll see these for sale from sorts of small food vendors in Italy, particularly on the street as they can be made without a pizza oven."
There will be two savoury options of the fried pizza, which is called a Montanara, as well as a sweet one dripping in Nutella.
Darryl explained: "There are two savoury versions, one with Margherita style toppings and the over is topped with Italian ham.
"The sweet version is topped with Nutella, icing sugar, and pistachio.
"The Nutella melting and becoming runny over the freshly fried dough is just fantastic
"I’m sure all Italian pizza makers know and love these tasty treats, we can’t wait for you to try them.
"The Montanara is here to stay."
Big Feed Kitchen is opened from 12pm to 4pm Tuesday to Thursday, and from 12pm to 10om Friday to Sunday.
