Glasgow drivers are being warned to expect disruption due to emergency repairs taking place on a busy commuter route.
Scottish Water is advising road users of some road traffic management to enable the repairs to a collapsed sewer running beneath Kilmarnock Road in the Shawlands area.
A contraflow will be in operation from today between Carment Drive and Trefoil Avenue to maintain two-way traffic.
Road traffic management is expected to be in place for around two weeks. Some parking restrictions will also be in place to enable the road traffic management plans and the works to be carried out safely.

Scottish Water contractors, George Leslie Ltd were on site earlier this week following reports of external sewer flooding in the area.
Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west, said: “CCTV investigations have been carried out at site and we now know that urgent repairs are required.
“It’s unfortunate that this has happened at the location adjacent to the previous section of main line sewer that was repaired back in January 2022. It is however important to stress that the damage is on an old section of sewer pipe, not on the newly upgraded section.

Georgina added: “Due to its location, this is a complex repair and it is inevitable that these emergency works will cause some disruption. We have been working closely with Glasgow City Council to finalise the traffic management, and I would like to reassure customers, businesses, commuters and the wider community we will do all we can to minimise disruption and ensure they are kept informed at all times.”
Engineers need to dig down up to four metres to access the damaged section of sewer on Kilmarnock Road before carrying out the repair.
