Glasgow covid latest as 41 new death reported in Scotland

An estimated one in 13 people across the UK are estimated to have covid, according to the latest data.

Research published by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) confirmed the latest figures, with around 4.9 million people thought to currently have the virus - the highest number since the ONS began collecting data.

Scotland's infection rate remains also remains in the highest bracket according to statistics published by Public Health Scotland, with all areas of the country except Orkney recording infections rates per 100,000 of more than 800.

The Scottish Government confirmed the latest figures on Friday (April 1), with 6,935 reported, and 41 deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19.

22 people were reported to be in intensive care with the virus while 2,383 were in hospital.

Glasgow remains the area with the highest number of cases, with 1,458 positive tests recorded on Friday.

All neighbourhoods in the city are in the highest infection rate bracket aside from 19, which are all in the second highest bracket, with an infection rate between 400 and 799 per 100,000 of the population.

Summerston North remains the area with the highest rate of infection in the city at 1,899.5, followed by Kelvinside and Jordanhill (1,587,6) and Carmunnock South (1,581.3).

Meanwhile, Sighthill is the area with the lowest infection rate at 429.6 per 100,000 followed by Balornock at 611.0.
