A suspicious package at Glasgow City Chambers has been found to be 'not viable' after the building was evacuated.
We told how a parcel was left in the east wing of the building causing the evacuation of staff.
Police rushed to the scene and the main section of the building was locked down.
Officers placed a cordon around the building while the package was analysed.
Cops have now confirmed it has been established the item was not believed to be viable and there is no threat to the wider public.
The item will be removed and officers say their enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We received a report of a suspicious package at the City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow around 3.20pm on Monday, 21 February, 2022.
"Officers attended and a cordon was put up while the package was analysed.
"It was established the item was not believed to be viable and there is no threat to the wider public.
"The item will be removed and enquiries are ongoing."
