Glasgow Central Station cordoned off as man rushed to hospital with head and face injuries

A man was left with head and face injuries following a serious assault in the early hours of the morning at Glasgow Central Station.

The man was attacked at around 4.45am this morning (March 18), with emergency services rushing to the scene shortly after.

He was rushed to hospital for treatment, with his injuries described as "not life-threatening or life-changing".

The station was cordoned off throughout the morning at its Gordon Street entrance with police officers remaining at the scene and eyewitnesses reporting blood on the floor.

A spokesperson from British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to Glasgow Central railway station at 4.45am this morning (18 March) following reports of a serious assault.

"Paramedics also attended, and a man was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment for head and face injuries. His injuries are not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.

"A police cordon was in place while officers attended, however the station’s concourse has now been reopened.

"Officers are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to make contact by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 65 of 18/03/22."
