A Glasgow carer has been removed from the SSSC register after an unregistered friend did his shift on short notice.
Olumide Ajileye was due to work at the Chester Park Care Home at or around July 11 last year, while he was employed with agency Staffscanner.
However, he was unable to attend the shift on short notice, which is not an uncommon in the profession. Instead of notifying his employers, the carer arranged 'for an unknown friend', who was not employed by Staffscanner or by Chester Park Care Home to do his shift instead.

The person who turned up for the shift still hasn't been identified.
The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) believe the ex-carer lied because he wanted 'to avoid a penalty for the late cancellation' of a shift.
The report added: "Your behaviour raises concerns about your attitude and your values as you failed to be open and honest and to consider the safety of the residents.
"The residents had the right to expect that the staff on shift to support them within their own home were employees of or known to that care home, had been fully vetted and had been trained to carry out the duties required of them.
"Additionally, had an incident occurred on that shift, your employer, the care home and the SSSC would have had no information about this individual to contact them."
This was the first incident Olumide Ajileye had been reported for, with there previously never being any concern regarding his behaviour.
However, due to the nature of the incident he was struck from the register.
The SSSC stated: "A Removal Order is the most appropriate sanction as it is both necessary and justified in the public interest and to maintain the continuing trust and confidence in the social service profession and the SSSC as the regulator of the profession."
The Removal Order has been carried out on Olumide Ajileye's registration after he did not ask for the case to be referred to a Fitness to Practise Panel.
