A MAN from Glasgow has been branded an "embarrassment" after a shock call to Jeremy Vine on 5.

The presenter was quizzing viewers on whether Rishi Sunak would win a General Election or if he was "running scared" when he accepted a call from a man going by the name of Bob in Glasgow.

Bob had told the show he thought Sunak could "win it" before going on air.

However, producers were quickly forced to end the call after he made a sectarian comment.

Jeremy said: "Let's go to Bob in Glasgow.

"Bob, you think Rishi Sunak can win it?"

Bob responded: "F*** the Pope and the IRA."

He was then cut off before he was able to say anything else.

Jeremy stated he had "no idea" what the caller had said and apologised for any "bad language".

Viewers of the show took to X, formally known as Twitter, to slam the caller and said it was an "embarrassment" for the city.

One person wrote: "Jeremy Vine show, let’s go to caller Bob from Glasgow ...

"'F*** the Pope and the IRA' In this day and age this isn’t funny but a total embarrassment for the people of Glasgow."

Another said: "Flicking channels, Jeremy Vine 'Bob in Glasgow, what do you think'.

"'F*** the Pope and the IRA' in thick [Glaswegian] accent.

"Honestly embarrassing."

Jeremy Vine has since shared a clip of the caller on X saying he has "listened to this 20 times and I still can't make out a single word of what this character was trying to say".
