Glasgow busker performs moving tribute to mum who lost battle with cancer

A Glasgow busker has performed a moving tribute in memory of his mum after she lost her battle with cancer.

Gary Lynass is a popular face in the Glasgow busking scene and has been active during lockdown, giving regular Facebook Live performances.

After losing his mum Helen to cancer earlier this month, Gary decided to raise money for Beatson Cancer Charity - an organisation very close to her heart.

In an emotional Facebook Live performance, Gary said he was going to "sing a few songs in honour of my wee mammy", performing Stand By Me by Ben E. King, My Girl by The Temptations and Amazed by Lonestar.

So far, Gary has raised more than £1,923 for Beatson - smashing his initial target of £1,000.

Appealing to his viewers, he said: "I lost my mother, friend and my favourite stargazer on Wednesday quite suddenly. I have decided to pull myself together and sing some songs she would have loved to honour my dear departed mother Helen Lynass.

"Please donate if you can. She loved to tune into my live streams. Please share far and wide so we can make as much as possible for the Beatson."
