A new study has revealed the most scenic bus routes Britain has to offer, crowning one of Glasgow’s services.
The Clyde Flyer 901-906, which runs from Glasgow to Largs, was given third place in the research. The research also took into consideration whether or not older people could travel for free on the service.
The research, which was carried out by over 50s experts SunLife involved analysing the Instagram hashtags of over 40 different bus routes throughout the UK, revealing which routes are the most scenic.

SunLife added: “The perfect route to explore the beautiful coastline along the River Clyde, the buses run up to every 15 minutes, every day throughout the entire year.
“If your older person’s bus pass is issued in Scotland, you can travel for free on all journeys on the Clyde Flyer.”
Coming in second place was the Coaster 12 and 12A, which travels from Brighton to Newhaven and Eastbourne. The route boasts breathtaking views of the English coast, including the famous Seven Sisters cliffs.
The bus runs every day, every 10 minutes throughout the year.
Grabbing first place was the Coastliner 840 from Leeds and York to Whitby. Travelling through the North Yorkshire Moors and the East Yorkshire Coast, users can look out for landmarks including Tadcaster and the coastal town of Whitby.
CEO of SunLife, Mark Screeton, said: “Buses are a great way to get about and see the beautiful sites of the British coastline and countryside, especially in later life.
“There have been numerous studies which show that taking the bus leads to to improved mental health, less isolation and improved safety. These bus routes allow you to experience breathtaking scenery at close quarters at a relaxing pace and often for free with an older person’s concessionary card.”
