Reports suggest that officers conducted a search on 'a few buses' at the station and then left around 15 minutes later.
Police have now confirmed to Glasgow Live that armed officers were sent to the station "in response to an ongoing police investigation" and that there was no threat to the wider public.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers were in attendance at Buchanan Street Bus Station in Glasgow around 7.15pm on Thursday, 11 March, in response to an ongoing police investigation.
"There was no risk to the wider public.”
