Giuliani launches anti-Muslim attack against Mamdani over 9/11 memorial events

Zohran Mamdani Rudy Giuliani Muslim
  • Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has launched an anti-Muslim attack against Mayor Zohran Mamdani , calling for the city's first Muslim mayor to skip 25th anniversary 9/11 memorial events.
  • Speaking on Newsmax, Giuliani baselessly accused Mamdani of supporting a plot to dominate America and compared him to the al-Qaeda terrorists behind the attacks.
  • A group of roughly 250 family members of 9/11 victims defended Mamdani's planned attendance, strongly condemning the Islamophobic efforts to exclude him from Ground Zero.
  • Mamdani confirmed he will attend multiple memorial events to honour victims and first responders, having signed two executive orders to establish a Citywide Day of Remembrance and Service.
  • The remarks come after years of legal and financial troubles for Giuliani following the 2020 election, prior to receiving a federal pardon from President Trump.
