Gisele Bündchen is IWC's new environment adviser

During a trip to the Amazon, Gisele Bündchen saw the impact of deforestation and pollution on the health and lives of indigenous tribes.

"I knew I had to do something," said the Brazilian supermodel, who since 2004 has worked to protect nature and native communities.

Her experience caught the attention of IWC Schaffhausen, who appointed Bündchen as its first-ever environmental and community projects adviser.

IWC began their sustainable journey over a decade ago. When the Swiss watchmaker carried out an analysis for the 2022 Sustainability Report, biodiversity and communities came out as two crucial areas to accelerate their efforts.

Bündchen will support IWC's sustainability projects and help identify initiatives to work on in the future.

"Our sustainability journey started with the realisation we had a responsibility to do more and that we could use our voice and influence to positively impact the environment and society. I look forward to working with IWC to help leave a better future for generations to come," said Bündchen.

Her long-standing commitment to environmental issues has been honoured by Harvard University and UCLA. Since 2009, she has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environmental Program.

The IWC 2022 Sustainability Report is part of the company's continued efforts to be fully transparent about the progress towards its sustainability goals.

The report also looks ahead to its ambitious roadmap for the future and new guiding purpose "Engineering Beyond Time" upheld by three pillars: Transparency, Responsibility and Circularity.

The fourth edition of the Sustainability Report features a foreword by Bündchen, who also stars in the thought-provoking campaign film set against an ocean backdrop.

"I've often thought about what traces I want to leave behind beyond my time," she says in the film.

One of her aspirations is to make sure that the wonder of nature is preserved for her children and future generations.
