Two little girls were left in tears after discovering they were getting yet another sister in a gender reveal - before giving their mum 'the silent treatment' and remaining 'devastated' for weeks. Laura Bott, 25, thought she was about to capture heartwarming footage with her two little girls, Avaeah-Grace and Alana-Mae, by her side for the big reveal, but it didn't go to plan.
When the expecting mum popped a cannon to reveal pink confetti that meant she and her fiancé David would be having another girl, both their daughters burst into tears on camera. Moments later, Avaeah-Grace and Alana-Mae can then be heard crying 'I wanted a brother' and 'I don't want another sister' as their mum tries to console them.
Following the reveal, the NHS clinical support worker said both her daughters refused to speak to her for the rest of the day and it took them weeks to get over the devastation that they would not be having a baby brother. Laura, from Chilwell, Nottingham, said: "I didn't know how to deal with their [my daughter's] reactions.
"My two little girls didn't speak to me for the rest of the day. They didn't want to be my friends. They were not having any of it. They kept saying they wanted a brother and we had to explain to them that you can't pick the gender.
"They just had their hearts set on a brother. My best friend has a little boy and they spend a lot of time with my two nephews and they just really wanted a brother instead of a sister.
"They [my two girls] did come round to the idea of a sister in the end but it took them a couple of weeks. They went to school heartbroken and were devastated for weeks."
Laura held the gender reveal party in her garden last September at 15 weeks pregnant and invited family and close friends to attend. On March 6 this year, she gave birth to her third daughter, Ayla-Jorge at 5:56 pm weighing 7lbs 2oz.
Since the birth of Ayla-Jorge, the mum-of-three said her two daughters have warmed to their new sibling and are both 'obsessed' with their baby sister. Laura said: "When I went into the hospital to have Ayla-Jorge, they were both very excited.
"When she was born, they took a photo into school to show their friends and teachers. And when I came out of hospital I went to pick them up from school with their baby sister and they [Avaeah-Grace and Alana-Mae] took her round the school showing everyone.
"They now sing to her. They try to dance with her and play hand clap games and show her their toys. They are obsessed with her and just want to hold her."
Laura said both Avaeah-Grace and Alana-Mae are still keen to have a baby brother but she and David, who got engaged in 2018, are happy with three children for the time being. Laura said: "They have asked about us having another baby as they are still set on having a brother but my partner has said no more.
"I think he's thinking about all the weddings he will have to pay for in future and if I have another baby and it's a girl, that's another one to pay for."
