Girls Aloud have added two London dates to their 2024 UK and Ireland tour after selling 200,000 tickets within hours of release.
On Friday, the pop girl group - who last month announced a reunion tour to mark their 21st anniversary and to pay tribute to their late bandmate Sarah Harding - announced an additional two London dates in June 2024.
General tickets went on sale on Friday at 9am - with sources close to the band confirming 200,000 tickets were sold within hours of release. Pre-sale tickets went live on Wednesday morning.
The group, who formed on reality show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, will now play London’s 02 Arena on Saturday June 22, Sunday 23, Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26.
The extra London dates were two of 14 extra shows added by the band on Friday.
Fans reacted with joy at securing tickets.
One wrote: “Nottingham tickets for @GirlsAloud secured! [...] Try one time through O2 Priority and I’m straight in!! My first time seeing these girls live despite being a huge fan all 21 years.”
Another wrote: “Well, we got there in the end. Just as stressful as Glastonbury buying, but with actual success. How is it THIS difficult to buy tickets these days? Jesus.”
Meanwhile another added: “200,000 tickets sold so far @GirlsAloud. The demand for this tour is off the scale!”
Earlier this month the group announced they would be reuniting for a tour in memory of their late bandmate Harding. Harding died of breast cancer in 2021.
The band announced the tour with a video which saw Nadine Coyle, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh reunite at a drive-in cinema where clips of the band performing their hit tracks including Sound Of The Underground, Love Machine, Call The Shots and Biology were played.
The tour will be a “celebration of Sarah, our music and our incredible fans”, the social media announcement said.
