Girl on a mission to rescue three street dogs who all survived the odds

When Victoria Chadderton moved to Turkey with her family at 19 years old, she made a promise to her mum not to fall in love with every street dog straight away - but broke that promise just one week later.

A tiny puppy had collapsed on a busy roundabout and was only given 24 hours to live, but Victoria couldn't let him die.

She nursed him back to health and soon after did exactly the same for two other stray dogs on their death beds.

While she may have broken her word to her mum, the three pups are still alive today because of her.

Victoria now lives back in Manchester and is on a mission to bring them all back to the UK and adopt them permanently.

She is asking strangers for their generosity to donate to her GoFundMe page so she can give them "the life and forever home they deserve".

Victoria's family moved to Turkey for three years in 2018, and it didn't take her long to spot a dog in need.

"Mum asked me not to get started with the animals yet, but one week later I saw Bailey," Victoria explained. "He seemed to have given up on life."

The three-month-old puppy had parasites in his stomach and plastic lodged in his intestines. He was given a 24-hour prognosis by a vet.

"Bailey survived and with lots of TLC, he is now a happy three-year-old," Victoria said.

After three months of nursing Bailey, Victoria came across Soldier. He was laying under a restaurant table covered in blood and appeared to be having a seizure.

"We rushed him to the vet where we were told that he'd been hit by a car with such force that his leg had broken in five places and part of his hip bone was down by his knee," she explained.

Soldier required emergency surgery and had his leg pinned - which unfortunately ripped through his skin years later.

"He is only able to walk on three legs," Victoria explained. "But his tail never stops wagging. He is the happiest dog in the world."

Both Bailey and Soldier will need further surgery to live long and healthy lives.

Five months after saving Soldier, a three-legged dog who had been run over in the street found Victoria, and she couldn't leave him alone.

"Barney had a fear of men and was so timid and scared of everything. He's come such a long way and now nothing phases him," she said.

Until last September, Victoria was living in Turkey with all three dogs, but she is now back in the UK and they are temporarily being cared for by a friend.

Victoria already has two dogs at home, and she is desperate to have all five pets under one roof.

She has set up a GoFundMe with the hopes of raising enough money to have Bailey, Soldier and Barney flown over.

Her goal is £3,500 to cover the cost of transport, vaccinations, passports and vet bills.

Her page reads: "Please help us to help them have the life they deserve after facing so much horror and trauma on the streets.

"Our aim and wish is to have all three dogs living in England with us by June and every penny donated counts."
