Girl, 8, bitten by bat in vicious attack dies of rabies 10 days after her brother

An eight-year-old girl bitten by a bat has died of rabies 10 days after her brother was also attacked.

The child’s seven-year-old sibling lost his fight for life at the Doctor Aurelio Valdivieso General Hospital in the southern Mexican city of Oaxaca on December 28 - although tests didn’t show he had rabies until after his death.

Hospital chiefs have now confirmed his sister had also died on Saturday.
