Girl,4, 'desperately upset' after bike stolen from car overnight

A Bristol mum says her four-year-old daughter was left 'desperately upset' after her bike was stolen from the boot of her car in the early hours of the Sunday morning (May 8).

Vicky Heath, a single mum from Mangotsfield village said she innocently forgot to check if her car had been locked after a day spent at the park with her daughter [Elsie] and their puppy.

"I only realised I’d forgotten once I opened the curtains at 6.30 am this morning and saw that the boot was open and some absolute sc**bag has stolen my four-year-old's bike," she added.

The 41-year-old added: "I was concentrating on getting them both on the house and I was meant to go back and get the bike in once they were safely in the house.

"My daughter was desperately upset, as we were supposed to be taking her bike out again this morning (May 8)."

Ms Heath shared the sad news on a local Facebook group and was inundated with a number of people offering to donate a bike to Elise.

"On the bright side we’ve had seven offers of bikes outgrown by others and two offers of donations towards a new bike, " she said.

For now, the family continues to look around the local area with the hope of finding Elise's bike for her next outdoor adventure and has reported the incident to the police.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "We received an online report on Sunday, May 8 that a child's bike had been stolen in Mangotsfield.

"The theft occurred between midnight and 6 am from the boot of a car in St James Place.

"The bike is described as being decorated with images of mermaids, has tassels, multi-colour beads on the spokes with a basket on the front and a pink bell.

"If you have seen this bike, or have any information which could help in the investigation, please contact 101 and quote reference number 5222103048."
