A 12-year-old girl has died three days after the car she was travelling in was hit by a Bentley in north London.
Police said the two men inside the Bentley fled the scene on foot after they crashed into the Vauxhall Astra in Colney Hatch Lane on Saturday.
The girl was rushed to hospital with critical injuries where she died on Tuesday, police said.
An eyewitness told The Standard she saw the girl getting CPR at the scene.
She said: “There was van blocking the road and a doctor’s car came from Muswell Hill. There were some bystanders and someone was receiving CPR.
“The car they were in was a red Astra.
“The driver’s side didn’t have any metal left from what I could see. I’m so sorry to hear she didn’t make it.”
The girl’s family are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.
Officers are making a new appeal for witnesses after her death in Barnet.
Detective Inspector Ian Watson, from the Met’s Road and Transport Policing Command, said: “My thoughts are with the girl’s family as they come to terms with this devastating news and we will do everything we can to support them at this difficult time.
“Our investigation into how the collision occurred continues and I encourage anyone with information about what happened to come forward if they haven’t already done so.”
A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving on Monday. He was subsequently bailed to return on a date in late September.
