Giovanni van Bronckhorst hints at Rangers changes as he hails Scottish Cup win over Hearts

Giovanni van Bronckhorst admits Rangers' Scottish Cup triumph means a lot as he hailed his team.

The Light Blues defeated Hearts 2-0 in extra-time at Hampden to lift the famous old trophy.

It was the second time this week the Ibrox men have had to play 120 minutes of football following their heartbreaking Europa League final defeat to Frankfurt in Seville on penalties.

But the Ibrox boss was full of praise for his troops and believes they looked stronger in the additional 30 minutes.

Speaking to Premier Sports, he said: "It means a lot. I told the players before the game we haven't won anything yet.

"We have worked so hard and so far in Europe and in the Cup but in the end you want to have something in your hands as a reward.

"It is always good to end the season with a trophy. It's always good to end the season with a trophy. It's positive.

"We looked much stronger in extra-time and deserved the win today.

"I am very impressed and proud of the team.

"It's been a demanding week with the final. Yesterday with the farewell of Jimmy [Bell] and today we had to be there. We had a lot of pressure to get the trophy and in end we did.

On his Rangers squad for next season, he added: "Next season is new. We can start all over again.

"I can start from day one. We just need to keep working.

"I think we will see some changes."

Leon Balogun, Steven Davis and Connor Goldson are some of the big names out of contract at the club.

The latter is likely to depart on a free, but asked about the other two players and if they would be staying at Ibrox beyond the summer, Gio added: "It depends.

"They are out of contract which is a luxury for players but I also think they want stability.

"Once they make their minds up where the future will lie we will tell but I am really happy with the players.

"We just enjoy this time together and have a big party tonight and go on holiday tomorrow."
