Giovanni van Bronckhorst condemns Connor Goldson racism as Rangers boss urges social media crackdown

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has hit out at sickening racist abuse suffered by Connor Goldson.

The defender received horrendous racism after helping his side past Red Star last night.

It's not the first time after Kemar Roofe, Glen Kamara and Alfredo Morelos were all racially abused last season.

Van Bronckhorst was embarrassed by the abuse and sickened.

And he urged social media to crack down on yobs who have easy access to say what they like.

He told Sky Sports: "I haven't spoken with Connor about that. It's a shame to see the comments again.

"Repeatedly we see comments on social media and we have to act because it's damaging for everyone.

"We have to make sure the rules are changed so this can't happen again."

Gers beat Belgrade to face Braga in the next round, the quarter-finals, and Gio added: "I think it's a good draw.

"All of the teams who are left in the last eight are good teams.

"We know our opponents now so we're going to prepare as good as possible to be able to go to the next round.

"It's going to be hard, Portuguese teams are always strong teams. Defensively very solid, always skilful players.

"We need to prepare well."
