Giovanna Fletcher shares update ahead of 100km Pembrokeshire coast trek after breaking her ankle

CoppaFeel! patron Giovanna Fletcher is taking on an epic trek across Pembrokeshire to raise money for the breast cancer awareness and education charity, which encourages people to check themselves regularly for signs. The I'm A Celebrity 2020 winner will take on 100km of the rugged Welsh coastline in June alongside 120 trekkers.

It's the first of two five-day treks for the charity this year, with the second taking place in the Sahara desert in November. It comes after the CoppaFeel! trek in the Scottish Highlands in 2021 and Cornwall in 2020.

And with just three months to go the best-selling author and podcaster has shared an update on her training after breaking her ankle in December 2021 while on-stage during a West End show. "Twelve weeks to go until I'm trekking along the Pembrokeshire coast with 100 brilliant humans, raising money and awareness for @coppafeelpeople!" Giovanna said.

"This year we have two treks, this one and the November adventure in the Sahara. After breaking my ankle in December I’ve been doing all I can to strengthen it so that it doesn’t stop me from being alongside everyone as they take on this challenge. "

She added: "I don't think I'm going to be wearing heels any time soon, but the trekking boots are on and 10km was achieved this morning with no further damage caused. Hurrah!"

Giovanna will be joined by four other celebrity team captains for the challenge which takes place in and around St David's and will cover stunning Welsh beaches and remote coves. A statement on the website reads: "This June, we’ll be setting out on a challenging, extraordinary and life-changing trek, all in the name of copping a feel!

"With Giovanna Fletcher at the helm, our fabulous community of trekkers will take on 100km of Pembrokeshire's rugged, unforgiving coastline in a bid to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds towards our life-saving mission." For more showbiz and television stories, get our newsletter here.
