Giorgos Giakoumakis post Celtic lift-off as he grabs Steven Gerrard Rangers catch phrase after historic Atlanta winner

Giorgos Giakoumakis has borrowed a buzz phrase from Steven Gerrard as he celebrated a massive win for Altanta United.

The Greek striker declared 'Let's Go!' after scoring the only goal to secure his side's first ever MLS win over New York Red Bulls in their six years of existence to move up to second place in the Eastern Conference.

The former Celtic star showed United what they had been missing when he followed in after CarlosCoronel fumbled Thiago Almada's shot and swept home the rebound to grab his second goal since moving to the United States. He and six other stars were all missing last week due to international commitments as Atlanta were hammered 6-1 by Columbus Crew, their worst ever defeat.

Giakoumakis said: "What an amazing game. Thank you for the support one more time. It's always amazing to celebrate with you.

"Let's go! Let's keep going and onto the next one".

Head coach Gonzalo Pineda said: “Getting back to who we are, that was the theme of the week. And the players show who they are a team that wants to play always, that shows a lot of – there is another word, bravery, to play under pressure, under a lot of pressure.

“We want to play. But also, in the moments we needed to defend, we defend. In the moments we need to win the duels, I think we won most of those. So very happy for a very good performance, and obviously for the first time beating New York Red Bulls in history in the regular season.”

Fellow former Celt Lewis Morgan missed the match with an injury with Red Bulls struggling at the foot of the table with just one win from their opening six games.
