Giorgos Giakoumakis Celtic transfer exit wait as move 'set' to be completed AFTER deadline

Celtic striker Giorgos Giakoumakis won't leave Celtic Park before the deadline, according to reports - although the deal will still be done further down the line with the MLS' transfer deadline going on past the Scottish one that ends at 12am today.

Atlanta United are the side in question, having agreed a £4.3million deal with the Hoops to prise him away from Parkhead - despite renewed interest from other clubs such as Urawa Red Diamonds and FC Midtjylland, with Celtic having accepted an offer from the former.

Giakoumakis has been in superb form for Ange Postecoglou's men over the past 18 months, winning the Scottish Premiership top goalscorer award last season alongside scoring in the UEFA Champions League this season against Shakhtar Donetsk.

But his move to the USA will take a little bit more time as Celtic wait nervously to see if their Greek goalscorer does make the switch across the Atlantic Ocean, according to Football Scotland.

Talks are still ongoing, and with the MLS window closing at the start of May, it is still expected that the club will be able to seal the deal and set Giakoumakis packing after the signing of Oh-Kyeon gyu earlier this window.

However, reports elsewhere suggest the deal could be finalised before the deadline in Scotland.
