Ange Postecoglou insists Giorgos Giakoumakis is available to play his part against St Mirren on Wednesday - with an exit to Japan NOT imminent despite reports to the contrary.
It was claimed on Monday the Greek striker was on the brink of a move to Urawa Red Diamonds with Celtic said to have accepted an offer worth £3.5million. It comes after Record Sport broke the news that contract negotiations with Giakoumakis had broken down leaving the club open to offers for the player they signed for just £2.5million in the summer of 2021 as one of Postecoglou's early signings. Our information is the Japanese side remain in pole position to land the want-away Greek international in a £4million deal.
But the boss has been insistent that no offers have crossed his desk yet and he said ahead of their clash with Saints on Wednesday that this remains the case.
Postecoglou said: "It is pretty much the same. As I said, Michael (Nicholson) is dealing with all that stuff and, as we sit right here, nobody is leaving or coming. There is always going to be speculation around the place. But from our perspective at this moment there is nothing definite happening."
