Atlanta United boss Gonzalo Pineda insists the club are in no rush to finish off their transfer business with Giorgos Giakoumakis nearing a move from Celtic.
The Greek striker is poised to move to the MLS with Atlanta United instead of a switch to Japan with Urawa Red Diamonds, and the American transfer window still has 12 weeks to run - leaving Celtic patiently waiting for their £4.3million payday. A move across the Atlantic was the the preferred destination of Giakoumakis who is slowly moving towards the end of his 18 months spell in Glasgow's east end, with Celtic already signing his replacement Hyeon-gyu Oh before the European window closes.
But a move looks set to drag on with Pineda coy when put on the spot about the move by the Atlanta Journal, stating: "Whenever there is news, we will announce it in the normal fashion that we do. But I cannot confirm or deny anything at the moment."
The boss was also pressed on if he wanted to get the 28-year-old in soon with pre-season training already underway. However, Pineda is happy to take a patient approach to their business.
He said: “It’s part of MLS, the timing of MLS and the window. We have a different calendar compared to Europe and many parts of the world.
"So these things happen. I’m used to it. Obviously, I would prefer it is different, but it is what it is.”
