Gio van Bronckhorst's Rangers afterlife takes a twist as FC Twente links come up short despite collapsed talks

Gio van Bronckhorst has reportedly been told he's not in the running for the vacant post at FC Twente despite fan clamour for the former Rangers boss.

Van Bronckhorst has been out of work since leaving Ibrox and is a respected figure in his homeland having previously led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie title while he took Rangers to the Europa League final less than a year ago. But he's found offers hard to come by after his spell in Glasgow came to a whimpering end as he looks to get back into work.

FC Twente are on the lookout for a new boss and they approached former Dortmund and Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz about the position. But he rejected them, leaving the Enschede-based side to consider other options. According to reports in the Dutch media, chat among fans has been that Van Bronckhorst would be a good fit - however it seems that move won't come to pass.

Twente Insite report that Joseph Oosting, currently boss of RKC Waalwijk is the man they want with Van Bronckhorst not even on their radar. It means the Dutchman's hunt for his next job will roll on.

Speaking after he was offered the job, top target Bosz said, “I said it comes too soon for me. Certainly in March already. We had a conversation, and I told them. Most clubs will make their decision for next season at the end of May or the beginning of June, and I want to start next year. I said that I understand that they also have to look further.”
