Giovanni van Bronckhorst admitted his Rangers side got lucky after their last-gasp Dens Park win and insists disruptions from their own fans didn’t help.
Connor Goldson netted a late winner as the champions were forced to come from behind to beat the Scottish Premiership basement side Dundee on Tayside.
Aaron Ramsey netted his first goal for the club in the on-loan Juventus man’s first league start after Christie Elliott’s shock early opener for Mark McGhee’s men.
James Tavernier missed a penalty in a stop-start game with visiting fans causing a halt in play three times with a tennis balls and toilet roll protest against the Sydney Super Cup friendly against Celtic.
The game was also paused due to the sprinklers coming on and Van Bronckhorst told Sky Sports: “Of course it’s disruptive because you want to play the game and we had three or four breaks because of the clearing up.
“It’s a disruption but I know their emotions so they have to show them which is good to see but you need to have the balance.
“It was disruptive for us today. I understand the emotions but we all go back with three points in the bag.
“It was a big relief to go away with the three points. It was a tough game. We didn’t start really well, they were 1-0 up and we missed a penalty in the first half.
“We created more chances in the second half and sometimes you have to be a little bit lucky which we were in the end with the ball dropping for Connor.
“It could have cost us two big points but we kept the belief and worked hard to win the game in difficult circumstances.
“The pitch wasn’t ideal for us to play. There was no water - only during the game which was really strange - but you have to overcome these situations.
“We know they do everything to get a good result so we just play on and make sure we go off the pitch as winners.
“We said at half time we had everything to play for. We’re still in the fight for the championship and had to change our level.
“We had two changes with Fashion and Joe so we had more width and threat going behind the defence and that showed so I’m really pleased with the three points.”
Gers cut Celtic’s lead at the top back to three points with the two due to meet at Ibrox after the international break.
The former Holland star said: “Now we lose the players to their international duties and have a little break. I loved to be involved with my country, it’s an honour, so I get that but we want them back as soon as possible after the games with no injuries.”
