Gino D'Acampo revealed he had to quit his show with Gordon Ramsay and Fred Sirieix before their friendship suffered.
The TV chef opened up about the real reason he left the ITV series Gordon, Gino and Fred: Road Trip.
It was initially reported that there was a "fallout" between him and his co-stars and that they were "blindsided" by his sudden exit.
At the time, it was also claimed that contracts were to blame for his show exit.
During his appearance on Heart Breakfast with Jamie Theakston and Amanda Holden, he opened up about the real reason he left.
"I love the boys, you know, Gordon he's a cool guy and Fred we have known each other for a long time," Gino said.
"What happened is we tried to put the dates down to the show, and then all of a sudden they get cancelled. [...] So I was like, 'guys, we can't do that' because everybody has a block of dates.
"And we go work, we need to support our family. But just they said, 'Look, this is what it is. We need to be able to move things around'. And I was like, 'Look, this is getting now silly, stressful'."
The star continued: "The contracts also are getting bigger and more stressful. So I thought, you know what, let me get out of this before the friendship is going to suffer.
"I'd rather have the friendship and not have the show."
Earlier this week, he appeared on Good Morning Britain and insisted there was no falling out between the trio.
Explaining that the production was constantly being moved, Gino revealed he quit the show after he'd been told to keep May free for filming, only for it to be moved to the end of the year.
It comes a month after reports suggested Gordon and Fred were stunned to find out Gino had left their popular TV series.
Fred revealed in an interview just ten days earlier that he had been chatting about work to Gino, days before he made the decision to quit.
And a source has reportedly claimed that Gino’s exit came as a shock to “everybody connected” to the show.
