Gillian McKeith to be cast in All Stars: I'm a Celeb despite previous PTSD fight

Jungle icon Gillian McKeith is set to sign a bumper contract that will see her compete on 2023's new spin off I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here series, called All Stars.

The 62-year-old, famed for her 2004 documentary You Are What You Eat, is in talks with producers and ITV bosses to appear in the new show next year, The Sun reports.

The new series is planning to be filmed in South Africa this summer, and will air on ITV in 2023.

And Gillian's appearance on the 2010 season can be argued as one of the most memorable of the show's 21-year run - for all the wrong reasons.

She famously 'fainted' when taking part in a Bushtucker Trial, receiving oxygen moments after hosts Ant and Dec caught her from falling.

During her stint in the jungle, the public consistently voted Gillian to take part in a variety of Bushtucker Trial's - some of which included being surrounded by rodents and being chained underground.

A source said: “Gillian’s performance in 2010 was nothing short of legendary.

"She was high on the hit list when producers decided they were going to do the Best Of series next year.

“She’s all but confirmed now.

"Talks are still ongoing and advanced, but everyone is confident she will put pen to paper and head to South Africa for filming in the next few months.

"It’ll be telly gold.”

However, since the show aired, Gillian has claimed that the challenges had brought on a form of post-traumatic stress disorder for her.

In 2021, Gillian said: "I definitely still suffer from PTSD.

"Since that jungle trial, the one where I was buried under the ground in a coffin and rats landed on top of me, it still feels like yesterday.

“What has happened is, every time I have to go into a small space like a lift, I feel like I’m going to start screaming.

"I feel an intense rising panic that I simply can’t control.”

Gillian went on to call her condition “uncontrollable”.

She added: “I went in without claustrophobia and came out with it.”

I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! will resume at the usual time of December 2022, and the newest cast is yet to be confirmed.
