Gillian McKeith can't rule out another fainting spell on I'm A Celeb

Gillian McKeith can't rule out another fainting spell during her stint on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa.

The Scots nutritionist first took part in the ITV reality show in 2010 alongside Shaun Ryder, Stacey Solomon, Alison Hammond, and Jenny Eclair. During her time in the jungle 12 years ago, the You Are What You Eat star was a hit for her squeamish reactions, refusal to do certain Bushtucker Trials, and fainting live on air.

Gillian, 63, left campmates 'starving' after refusing to do one of her trials last time round, and she is feeling 'terrified' ahead of her second stint. As well as struggling with the trials, Gillian found it tough to get along with her fellow campmates and had a furious feud with Happy Mondays star Shaun.

Speaking about the infamous fainting incidents from 12 years ago, the star slammed claims her collapses weren't real. "I have a history of fainting since childhood," she told ITV.

"The day before we did the live Trial, I hadn’t had much to eat and I wasn’t feeling very well – which is the precursor to passing out."

She continued: "I have fainted several times and not just in the jungle. I even fainted at a wedding once when I was the bridesmaid. They were about to say: 'Do you take this man to be your husband?' and I passed out.

"Sometimes you can stop yourself if you get close to the ground but the problem with the jungle is there were all these leeches and so there was no way I was going to throw myself on the ground.

"But I have never been able to forget about my fainting in the jungle! I have been reminded about I’m A Celebrity every single day since I came out by taxi drivers and people in the street! They all talk about it as if it were yesterday."

Gillian added: "They say I was entertaining. It might have been for them but it certainly wasn’t for me!"

The TV personality was met with a mixed reaction after arriving in camp on Monday night, as her former co-star Shaun was certainly not happy to see her.

I'm A Celebrity... South Africa continues 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
